I finished my 7th journal at the beginning of October. It spanned the time period from June to September 2019. Here is just a few of the things I accomplished in that time.
June – September 2019
- A job, health insurance, and a positive 90 day review
- A church that I attend – Denver Community Church
- Consistent attendance at Denver Frontrunners running group
- Close to 300 miles of running in the past 4 months
- Two 14ers climbed (peaks about 14,000 ft) – Mt. Evans & Mt. Bierstadt
- Progression on NZ Recommendations – less than 5 remain
- I finished reading the Bible – read the entire thing in 11 months
- Daily and Weekly Habits employed – daily and weekly self-care and relationship building
- I’ve lost weight (probably 5-10 lbs) and gained muscle definition
- Daily Journaling where I analyze myself (my thoughts, words, and deeds) think about the world, pray, and praise God for his creation.
- Playlist creation continued – I’m currently working on
“Fall in Denver” a multi-month song for the season - My art is progressing. I’ve moved from colored pencils and coloring books to oil pastels and art books (image for this post)
- Celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary in Billings, MT.
- Regularly tested for STIs and taking PrEP daily (anti-HIV pill)
- Frequently attended and met people at All-in Poker Club at Daddy’s
- I’m learning how to work as a barista
- I’ve received valuable experience for grad school
- I’m in the process of getting my car titled and have my CO DL
- I’ve been focusing on my nail and skin care.
- Deep cleaning of my teeth at the dentist (since I hadn’t been to a dentist in over 18 months)
Of course, there are also areas that I want to continue working on, and I have goals for the remainder of the year. Here is what I am going to work on as I write my 8th journal.
Areas of Additional Growth
- Research & apply to Grad schools – find 5-7 that I can apply to in 2020
- Nail Care – continue focusing on it and stop chewing my nails
- Continue to gain experience at Denver Children’s Home
- Get more involved at Denver Community Church – find a small group, audition for worship team
- Look into doing a marathon in the next 6-12 months
- Add yoga 3 times a week to my weekly habits
- I will go back to my hometown of Billings, MT for Thanksgiving
- Christmas will be spent with my dormitory of girls at DCH
- Continue to think about the Enneagram, Dom/sub/Switch, Intense emotions
Final Thoughts
“This is the end of my 7th journal, since Miracle Sunday that is. 1 year and 8 months of time recorded, bible verses read, experiences logged and analyzed, subconscious mind documented for further study and analysis. Would anyone choose to read this? I mean ALL of it? What can I write here to compel more people to read it?
I have discovered the secret to the universe, the secret to happiness, fulfillment, and contentment. It isn’t found through material things, or through earthly relationships. It’s found through a spiritual relationship, a connection to the deeper parts of yourself. But have I figured out what the deeper parts of me really are? Do I know how to express them? Do I know how to control them?”
Song Time!
Thanks for reading! I hope you also have accomplished some things in the last 4 months, and that you have some goals for your future. Most importantly, I hope you are journaling and taking time to reflect on your life and experiences.
The song for this post comes from my “Fall in Denver” playlist. I haven’t made it public yet, so you can’t experience it fully. I’m still adding to as it will span September to December 2019. The song is a brand new hit from Meaghan Trainor, and I resonate with the imagery of waves, water, the push and pull of relationships, and the need to be held…to belong…to be loved….
